Alexander, Abbot of Svir the Wonderworker
The Venerable Alexander of Svir is one of the holiest recent saints of the Russian Orthodox Church, being the only person since Abraham to have the Holy Trinity appear to him in the form of Three Angels. His life of holiness, prayer, asceticism and strict fasting allowed the Lord to grant him many gifts, including wonder working. His completely incorrupt relic lies at his monastery in Svir.
Troparion, Tone 4
Thou didst settle in the wilderness from thy youth eager to follow Christ’s footsteps, O Alexander. The Angels were amazed when they beheld thee struggling in the flesh and conquering onslaughts of passions. Dwelling on earth thou wast equal to the Angels. Pray to Christ our God to save our souls.
