On Sunday the 3rd of April, the Greek Orthodox Christian Society, the Greek Orthodox Ladies Fellowship and the Youth Fellowships of Sydney, participated in the commemoration of Greek Independence Day. Following a memorial service at Martin Place which was officiated by His Grace Bishop Seraphim, the various parishes, schools and Greek organisations subsequently marched towards the Sydney Opera House, where a large crowd was waiting to enthusiastically greet their entry. The event was honoured by the attendance of His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos as well as a number of distinguished political leaders, who warmly spoke of the historical and spiritual significance of the Day, as well as the strong contribution of Greek migrants to Australian society.
