Meson Girls Day

In the July school holidays, I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Meson Girls Day at Marrickville church. It was a beautiful day full of craft, games and songs. The first part of our schedule was outdoor activities. We walked around the corner to a small park. There we were spilt into groups and played a variety of games, including a mix of soccer and netball and an interesting game involving pegs. The next part of our schedule was lunch. As usual, the cooks catered for all and went above and beyond to make sure that everyone had [...]

2018 Easter Hospital Visits

Χριστός Ανέστη!  Christ is Risen! Rising early on Easter morning, members of the Greek Orthodox Christian Society gathered together to prepare to visit various hospitals around Sydney. Unfortunately, not everyone is well and able to attend the Resurrection service or have Easter at home with their family. We split into our different groups to visit the hospitals all over Sydney to bring the Easter joy to those who unfortunately cannot be at home. The hospitals visited were St George Public, Royal Prince Alfred, Royal Prince of Wales, Westmead, Bankstown, Concord and Canterbury.

A memorial service was held at Martin Place, officiated by His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos, followed by a march towards Sydney Opera House, where large crowds enthusiastically greeted the procession. The event was honoured by the attendance of numerous federal and state political leaders and other dignitaries, who spoke warmly of the historical and spiritual [...]

Synthema 2018: The Church in your House

On Saturday 6 January, members of the Greek Orthodox Christian Society, Orthodox Ladies Fellowship and the boys and girls from the youth fellowships (Ομάδες) gathered together for the unveiling of the synthema (motto) for 2017. The synthema provides a guiding focus for the events and camps throughout the year. The program began with prayer and the singing of traditional new year’s carols. The keynote speakers were Mr Marios Pasas and Mrs Anna Dokos (in English). The synthema for 2018 was taken from Phm. 1:2 «Ἡ Κατ᾽ Οἶκον Σου Ἐκκλησία»  (“The Church in your House”). This is the invitation of this year’s [...]
